Our NHS Ultrasound and Echocardiography service at Wilmslow Health Centre provides direct-access diagnostic scans for GP practices across the North West — and we’ve recently increased our capacity.
Operating since 2008, the service offers reports written for primary care and a simple, eRS-based referral process.

We’re at Wilmslow Health Centre, Chapel Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 5HX — well placed for patients across the region, with excellent links via the A34, M56 and M60. Approximate off-peak driving times:

When booking on eRS, please send the booking information to the patient so they can contact us to arrange an appointment at a time that suits them.

A few important referral criteria
To help us see your patients promptly, please note:
- We accept patients aged 18 and over for both Ultrasound and Echo.
- Please complete the form fully, including the clinical reason for the scan; for MSK referrals, please specify the area to be scanned.
- Referrals must include a referring clinician’s name, or they will be returned.
- This is a non-obstetric ultrasound service — we are unable to scan pregnant patients where the area examined may include the baby.
- For Echo, we are unable to scan patients over 110kg (17 stone), or those unable to transfer themselves independently onto the couch — these patients are best referred to a hospital service.
