You don’t necessarily need to see a GP or nurse for many minor ailments.
Ask participating pharmacists for help if you have one of the
conditions on the list below – participating pharmacists can provide
advice and treatment for most people without you needing
to see a doctor first.
Some of the conditions assessed and treated include:
Bacterial Conjunctivitis
Cystitis
Impetigo
Scabies
Threadworm
Vaginal thrush
Oral Thrush in Infants
How does it work?
• Your consultation will always be confidential with a qualified pharmacist
in a private room.
• The pharmacist can supply some medicines to you that normally would need
a prescription, without you having to see your doctor first.
How much does it cost?
As this is an NHS service, the consultation is free. If the pharmacist agrees that
you need medicines they will be provided free of charge for people who get free
prescriptions, and for no more than the prescription charge if you have to pay.
