We will shortly be arranging clinics to administer the flu vaccines for this year.
Vaccinations fall into 3 categories this year, as follows:
1.     A specific vaccine target at all patients over 65 years of age.
2.     A different vaccine for patients under 65 years old who:
a.      are pregnant
b.     have certain medical conditions (Diabetes, Stroke, Chronic Heart, Kidney or Liver Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, MS, MND or any condition associated with a weakened immune system).
c.      are living in a long-stay residential care home or other long-stay care facility
d.     receive a carer’s allowance, or you are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill.

3.     A nasal flu vaccine for patients under 18 and on various disease registers including those described above.

Due to the Department of Health’s introduction of the new over-65s vaccine this year, deliveries to GP surgeries are being made over a slightly prolonged period.

Please be assured that we will have adequate supplies for everybody entitled to the vaccination and we aim to administer them as early in the season as we can.

All the doctors at the practice strongly recommend that everyone who is eligible arrange to be vaccinated as vaccination has been proven to reduce the risks of influenza.

PLEASE ASK FOR FURTHER DETAILS AT RECEPTION OR AWAIT YOUR INVITATION THAT WE WILL BE SENDING OUT TO YOU SHORTLY.
