Travel Clinic

Wilmslow Health Centre has nurses who are fully trained in giving expert travel health advice. If you are travelling abroad, be it for business or pleasure, our nurses will ensure you and your family are fully protected during your stay even if you have to travel at short notice. Please make an appointment several weeks before travelling abroad if possible as some immunisations need more than one injection. We are a registered Yellow Fever Centre.

Maternity Care

A full range of antenatal care is available on Fridays; postnatal care is provided during normal surgery hours.

Family Planning

All our doctors are trained in contraceptive care and provide a range of family planning services.

Well Baby Clinic

This clinic is held fortnightly. The clinic is intended to provide complete health care for your child from birth to five years. This includes developmental checks and general advice. The clinic is run by a doctor or health visitor as appropriate.

Childhood Immunisations

Reminders are sent automatically when a child’s vaccination is due.

Cervical Smears

The practice nurses carry out cervical smear examinations. We recommend a smear every three years for women up to the age of 65 years. Please make an appointment requesting a smear with a nurse.

Minor Surgery

Some minor surgery procedures including removal of small lumps and joint injections are performed at the health centre.

Influenza jabs

Flu jabs are available annually to specific groups of patients only. You will receive a letter inviting you to attend an immunisation clinic if you are elligible.

General Health Check

We recommend you attend for a health check if you have not been seen for three years. The nurse will examine you and give health advice. If you are over 75 an annual check is advisable.

High blood pressure is a condition which if untreated can lead to damage of the eyes and kidneys and increase the incidence of heart diseases. If you suffer from raised blood pressure, the doctor may ask you to attend to see the practice nurse for advice and monitoring of the problem.

Heart Clinic

For patients who have had a heart attack or have other heart conditions, this service includes an annual review by the practice nurses to assess and monitor your health to make sure you receive the best possible care.

Asthma Clinic and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) clinic.

Rebecca Bezzina, our practice nurse, has had specialist training in the care of asthma patients. Asthma affects at least two people in 50. By understanding the condition and how to treat it, you can help yourself and your doctor keep your asthma under control. The clinic aims to:

1.Educate patients about their asthma, or COPD.
2.Monitor patients and, where possible, improve the control of their asthma/COPD which in turn will improve their lifestyle.

Diabetes Clinic

Most of our diabetic patients are now looked after at these clinics. Some with particular problems have shared care, ie attending the health centre and also the local hospital.

We have a large physiotherapy department that provides an extensive range of traditional physiotherapy services to registered and non-registered patients.

Fully qualified audiologists provide hearing tests and hearing aids when appropriate.

A chiropodist is available to see patients referred to them by their GP.

Occasionally blood tests may be requested by your practice nurse or doctor. Once these requests have been made, you may book an appointment with the phlebotomist to have your blood taken.

Named, accountable GP for all patients.

Building on commitments to deliver more personalised care, it will be requirement, from 1 April 2015, for all patients (including children) to be allocated a named, accountable GP. The named accountable GP will take lead responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services for the registered patient and ensure they are delivered to each of their patients where required (based on the clinical judgement of the named accountable GP).
